Professional Bio

I was born and raised in Indiana.  Always passionate about language and culture I decided to take a gap year between high school and college.  I took this extra year of life and spent a year as an exchange student in Cologne Germany.  I was cleverly placed with a delightful host family as my host-father was German and my host-mother was Spanish.  This was pivotal as I came home from this exchange having developed skills in both languages.
I attended Indiana State University where I studied German, Spanish and Education.  While studying at ISU I also studied for a year at the Karl Franzens Universität in Graz, Austria.  This was an amazing experience as I was able to explore the southern vernacular of the German speaking world.  As my parents were very supportive of my love for language and travel I also spent six months attending a MCSA exchange program in Segovia, Spain.  This was also an unforgettable experience that left me with an irreparable Castilian accent.
Having spent a few summers working at the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone National Park, I was simply enamored by the west and more specifically by this area.  With teaching certificate in tow, I made my way back out west and was fortunate enough to find my first teaching job here in beautiful Park County.
In 2009 I began graduate work at Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota and in 2011 graduated with a Master’s Degree in World Language Education.  I love teaching languages and continue to travel both in my personal life and with students.  My wife and I have traveled with students to Germany, Spain, Costa Rica and Japan.  I have two lovely children, Finnegan and Maeve.
