Professional Bio

Born and raised in Montana, I spent most of my youth around the Helena area.  I attended Montana State University Bozeman to earn my B.A. in Art Education, majoring in Art Education K-12 and minoring in Earth Science Education.  I started teaching at Park High School in 2001 as an Earth Science  and Geology teacher.  Although I greatly enjoyed the subject and the faculty in the science department, I also knew that my heart was in the arts.  In 2007 I had the opportunity to transfer to the Art Department and pursue my dream of teaching art.  In my personal time I enjoy creating my own pottery, jewelry, and paintings of which I have made a small business for myself.  My goal for students is to be exposed to different forms of art.  From there I wish for them to enjoy the creative process through their own personal expression, creating artwork that is meaningful to them.

WHY ARE THE ARTS IMPORTANT?

"They are languages that all people speak that cut across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhance cultural appreciation and awareness." -Dee Dickinson
