Dear Ranger Parents/Guardians: Last night at the Board of Trustees meeting, PHS discussed Covid-19 related issues. The Board voted in favor of our recommendation to remain in an alternate day schedule, with increased onsite time for as many students as we can serve, while maintaining health and safety protocols related to Covid-19. Our rationale and a full description of A/B Plus Model is attached. The A/B Plus model will allow continuity of education onsite instead of the yo-yo of onsite then offsite, which we have seen in neighboring districts. As we move into December and January, we will continue to monitor the indicators that inform our decisions about further expanding or suspending onsite instruction. A/B Plus remains in place (unless we were to go offsite due to transmission of Covid-19 within school) until January 15, 2021. While far from perfect, we have a sustainable schedule, with students having the opportunity to learn the critical content they need to take them to their next educational steps. In our MAP testing this Fall, we continued to see growth in Reading skills (not the Covid slide) and in fact, grew our numbers of students who on track for achieving high college readiness scores (ACT 22 & 24+). Parent/Teacher telephone calls will go into next week. If you haven't received a call by next Thursday (11-19), please call the office. If you are interested in your child coming in on their offsite day, please indicate this during conferences or email us. Principals Scalia & Dust |
